For decades, the iconic Garden Oaks Theater served its community in many ways. Today, it continues to serve its community as Grace Church. In 2008, this mid-century movie theater was transformed into a house of worship, and a place of community. If you are close to the Heights or enjoy a retro design then this is the place for you!

  • Is giving through Overflow safe and secure?
Overflow's Information Security Program is SOC 2 compliant, a widely respected information security auditing procedure. Overflow does not have access to nor stores any brokerage account usernames or passwords. They use Yodlee, a third-party provider, that handles the brokerage login process. Over 600 companies including PayPal, Mint, and Amazon use Yodlee to connect their clients’ accounts.
  • How do I donate via Overflow?
Access the Overflow platform by clicking the Donate Stock and Crypto button above and you will be taken to the Overflow platform where you can follow the steps to complete the donation. Learn more about donating through Overflow here.
  • Can I donate international gifts?
Each asset class, stock, crypto, and cash, has its own unique requirements and restrictions when it comes to international gifts. Read this article for more details about giving internationally from each asset class.
  • What can I expect after I submit my donation?
Immediately after submitting your donation, you will receive an email confirmation of your gift. Stock transactions take 2-14 days to reach our account depending on the sending and receiving brokerages that are involved in the process. Once the 501c3 organization receives your gift, they will send you an IRS-compliant acknowledgment letter that you can use to itemize the charitable deduction on your taxes. Learn more about what to expect after submitting a donation.
  • Does Overflow support gifts from my brokerage account?
Overflow currently supports over 10 brokerages via its self-guided platform including the most popular brokers such as Charles Schwab, Fidelity, and E*Trade. If Overflow doesn't have a direct connection to your brokerage account, your gift can still be fulfilled through their off-platform concierge service. (Learn more about this concierge service here). If you are donating through Overflow's donor experience and your brokerage account is not one of the 10+ currently supported with a direct connection, you'll be automatically connected with Overflow's Donor Operations team. You can also choose to opt into Overflow's fully-guided concierge service by emailing stockgifts@overflow.co.
  • Why should I donate stock or crypto?
Donating appreciated stock that you've held for over a year could allow you to save up to 20%* in capital gains taxes and potentially up to 37%** in federal income taxes on the charitable donation value of your gift based on your tax bracket when itemizing deductions. To understand the full tax benefits of giving appreciated stock, including potential state tax savings, please consult with your tax professional for information about your personal tax implications. Read more here.
  • What types of shares can I donate?
What types of shares can I donate? You can give any shares that are publicly traded on the U.S. stock market through Overflow. By donating assets that have appreciated in value for more than one year, you are more likely to maximize the potential tax benefits. Learn more about the types of stock you can donate in this article.
  • Can I give through my 401K or IRA?
Overflow can process all whole shares of publicly traded stock, including 401Ks and IRAs. However, because donors often incur penalties for withdrawing these assets before a certain date, we highly recommend consulting your tax professional before donating these types of assets. Donating 401Ks or IRAs could result in major tax penalties or even fewer tax benefits than donating cash.
  • Who is Overflow?
Overflow is a digital solution for donating non-cash assets, enabling donors to give in a tax-efficient way. Donors can experience the ease of giving via stock or crypto in less than five minutes from their mobile device. Overflow also provides givers access to a private Donor Profile which enables visibility into transaction history, transaction statuses, and the ability to update connected financial accounts. For more information about Overflow, click here.
  • We fast to devote more time to prayer.
Fasting without prayer is just a bad diet. Between grocery shopping, cooking, preparing, deciding what and when to eat, and actually eating, food takes up a lot of our time. When we skip meals, we open up space in our schedules to spend time with God. Don’t just remove food. Add prayer.
  • We fast because Jesus fasted, and He instructed us to follow His example.
Before Jesus started His ministry, He fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. This was a special season of consecration to prepare Him for all that the Father had prepared for Him. If Jesus needed to fast to draw closer to God’s plan for His life, then surely we need to as well! In Matthew 6, Jesus offers some instructions about fasting and he starts by saying “when you fast.” Not “if” but “when.” He expects us to follow His example in fasting.
  • We fast because it challenges us to take a hard look at the condition of our hearts.
God doesn’t see what others see. He won’t judge you based on your Instagram feed or you Facebook profile. He evaluates you according to the condition of your heart. Samuel the prophet learned this when searching for the new king of Israel after Saul had died. Samuel 16:6-7 says, “When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the LORD’s anointed!” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” Fasting allows us to start the new year with a close examination of our mindsets, feelings, emotions, habits, and behaviors that limit God’s ability to move unhindered in our lives. Fasting helps us identify what we need to repent of, turn away from, and release from our lives.
  • We fast to starve the flesh and feed the spirit.
Galatians 5:16-17 says, "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want." As we enter a new year, we want to submit our hearts, minds, and bodies to God. We want His leading and His guidance more than anything else. When we fast, we put the Spirit back in the driver’s seat and allow God to control our lives. We stop focusing on what we need, what we want, what we like. We stop looking at ourselves and focus on Him. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
  • Can you accommodate children with special needs?
Yes! Possibility Place is Grace Church's approach to creating a safe space for spiritual growth for those where traditional methods may not work. Possibility Place has been a part of a catalog of ministries at Grace for more than 20 years. This ministry is designed for children, teenagers and adults with disabilities or special needs, including those diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other diagnosable disabilities. Possibility Place is available during our service times on Sunday mornings at 9am and 11am, as well as during our Life Group semesters on Wednesday nights at 7pm. Possibility Place is a Champions Club Team, and we are using their curriculum which is specifically designed for those diagnosed with certain intellectual disabilities. We are prepared with a sensory room, motor lab, community room and a classroom. Possibility Place offers a safe and engaging way for those with special needs to grow more in their relationship with God. As the ministry grows, there will be more opportunities for Possibility Place to do more together outside of our normal service times, as well as do more outreach into our local community. To learn more about Possibility Place or to become a volunteer, email gracekids@grace.one Note: Currently at our Humble Campus only.
  • Are there Child Dedications?
Yes! If you are interested in taking part of our Child Dedication service, you can go to our Events page to find out more information, when the next dedication service is, and how to sign up. Grace Events
  • Are kids allowed in the Worship Center during service?
To help create a distraction-free experience where everyone can encounter Jesus, we want all of our parents to take advantage of our Grace Kids program. We understand this may be inconvenient for some families, but we truly believe that your kids experience with Grace Kids will be fun and life-giving.
  • What kind of security do you have to protect my kids?
All of our volunteers at all of our locations wear Grace Kids Volunteer t-shirts, and are background-checked to be sure that every child is in the best of hands. Additionally, we have a campus-wide Safety Team during every service as well as local police to ensure the security of all of our campuses.
