Update: October 29, 2025
We’re excited to share that Grace Church Life Groups have a meeting space at Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet, located at 901 Sue Barnett Drive. Groups will gather on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and we have childcare available on Wednesdays.
Update: September 17, 2025
Last weekend, it was announced that the Garden Oaks Theater has been sold. To help us all make this transition together, here are some FAQs that may help answer any questions you may have.
Why are we selling the Garden Oaks Campus?
The iconic Garden Oaks Theater is nearly 80 years old, and the building is in major disrepair and severely out of code. It would take $2 million dollars and at least 6 months of no services to bring the building up to code, and all that expense and time wouldn’t add one more seat, one more parking spot, one more foot of space. While we’ve been approached numerous times throughout the years inquiring about this building, this offer was different. Through much prayer and consideration, we accepted the buyer’s offer to purchase the building. We believe that this is an act of faith, an act of obedience, and we believe God will honor that.
What happens next?
We are actively looking for space to rent for the Garden Oaks family to hold weekly Life Groups. In the meantime, we encourage all to stay connected with your Life Group and church family via meeting house-to-house. Our last service in the Garden Oaks Theater will be Sunday, September 28. Our team is prayerfully following God as He shows us the space and place for the future.
We are also actively studying the highest concentration of our membership by zip code and believe that more than one new Grace Campus will emerge from this season.
All of the Campus Leadership will stay on staff, and they are here for you and your family during this transitional phase. For a season, we encourage the Garden Oaks Campus to attend another Grace Campus. The Humble Campus is just 15 miles from the Garden Oaks Campus. We also encourage you all to stay connected through Life Groups, keeping the Church alive in our homes and in our community.
How long will this season last?
As we walk this out in faith, it is difficult to put a timeline on it. However, there is no motivation nor desire to leave the Garden Oaks area. We love our city and want to make eternal impact in Houston for Jesus.
What about the people in the community?
Our team still has local missions projects to carry out in the last quarter of 2025. Stay connected to your Life Group and ONETeam Leaders to learn more.
Is there a place for me to serve?
Absolutely! If you have been serving on The ONETeam, we want you to continue! Reach out to gardenoaks@grace.one and someone on the team will help get you connected to that ministry at another Grace Campus.
I’m grieving this change. Is that okay?
Of course. This building holds many memories – people’s lives have been changed here! At first, all change may be perceived as loss, but even as we grieve, we have hope that God is writing a better chapter for all of our futures. If you need continued support through this transition, let someone on the team know by emailing gardenoaks@grace.one.

How can I stay informed and involved?
This page will be a landing spot for all updates, and we will inform our church whenever new information is available.
Update: September 14, 2025
Dear Church Family
Since 2008, Grace Church has been blessed to worship together in the Garden Oaks community. In fact, this building—standing strong since 1947—has been more than walls and a roof. It has been a place where lives were changed, families were strengthened, and countless people met Jesus. Together, we’ve prayed, celebrated, and carried the mission of Until Everyone Hears into this city and beyond.
After much prayer and consideration, we want to share with you that our Garden Oaks building has been sold. This decision was not made lightly, as we deeply cherish the people, history, and ministry that have flourished here.
But our story doesn’t end. Grace Church continues to grow, and we are excited about what God has in store for the future. We would love for you to join us at one of our other campuses—in Humble, Tomball, or Liberty—where the same heartbeat, vision, and family of Grace continues strong. Meanwhile, the active search near the Garden Oaks vicinity continues.
We know this transition may feel bittersweet, but we trust in God’s plan and the promise that He is still at work in every life touched through Garden Oaks. What began here will continue to echo in the lives of those reached for generations to come.
Our last service will be Sunday, September 28th. We look forward to continuing life with you in Life Groups this semester and continuing to make a difference in our community. Thank you for being part of this chapter of Grace Church. We are honored to have walked this journey with you and look forward to the new ways God will use us all to carry forward the mission Until Everyone Hears.
With love and gratitude,
Grace Church Leadership
