Corporate Prayer Guide

Thank you for your willingness to pray today. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, The weapons with which we fight are not human weapons, but are mighty through God in overthrowing strong fortresses.”  The power of prayer is a mighty weapon to defeat the enemy and his plans and release God’s will and plans in our lives.

It is important to pray individually but there is something very powerful when we pray together with others for a common purpose. God is calling us as a body of believers to do something together that would be difficult to get done on our own.  It is kind of like moving a huge grand piano. By ourselves, we could inch it along using all our strength and exerting everything we have.  A better way would be to gather 15 guys endowed with a lot of strength who could accomplish the task with ease. That’s exactly the way it is when we work together in prayer.

James 5:16 says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.”

We believe as we pray and say the same things concerning God’s promises, that supernatural changes will come about over our homes, our communities, our churches, our state, our nation, and our world.

Please feel free to use the prayers and topics listed below as a guideline for your one-hour prayer. Be sensitive to the Lord and His direction as you pray.

Prayers for Our National, State, and Local Governments

Lord, according 2 Timothy 2:1-4, you asked that FIRST OF ALL, before we pray for our family, before we pray for ourselves, before we pray for the lost, before we pray for our jobs or businesses, before we pray for anything, you asked us to pray for our leaders and those in authority. God, you want us to pray for our leaders whether we voted for them or not or whether we like them or not.  The heart of the king is in your hand and we know you are able to direct his decisions to your plans and purposes. (Proverbs 21:1)

Father, we bring the needs of our local, state, and national governments before You and ask You to bless our nation through godly leaders. We magnify the Name of Jesus and declare that He is Lord over this nation.

We pray for our president, the vice president, all the Cabinet the, chief justice and associate justices of the Supreme Court, our governor and mayor, to receive the wisdom of God, to act in obedience to that wisdom and for the power of God to flow in their lives.

We pray for the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to find Your peace and direction, and for these men and women to act and lead according to Your Word. A house divided against itself cannot stand, therefore, we pray for them to be unified in righteousness for the sake of the nation.

Give our leaders discernment, understanding, and knowledge concerning the issues that concern their attention.  Strengthen them spiritually, mentally, and physically.  Give them courage and fortitude to stand strong in the face of adversity. May they be bold and courageous to stand up for what is right and defy the forces that would come against our country, state, and communities.

May our leaders conduct their administrations and personal lives ethically, morally, and honestly. May they be people of integrity and truth and follow the convictions of their hearts, looking to You, God, in prayer for help and comfort.

We pray for the safety and protection of our leaders, as well as our law enforcement officers, and men of and women of the military. We ask for godly counsel and wisdom for judges across this land. In the Name of Jesus, we pray that You and Your kingdom of righteousness be manifested in the hearts of all those who are in authority in any way.

Give wisdom and insight to our leaders and everyone involved in the elimination of terrorism.  Provide instruction in the development of effective and efficient anti-terrorist strategies that will give us an advantage against our aggressors, allowing the country to remain safe and secure.  God, we pray you prevent the destructive forces of terrorism directed against our nation. May every evil plot be revealed and stopped.

Father, Your Word says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem because those who love Jerusalem shall prosper. Lord Jesus, because You love Jerusalem and wept over it, we love it also. We pray for Jerusalem to receive the shalom of God, which brings wholeness—nothing missing, nothing broken. We pray that no leader of our nation will make any decision that will harm Jerusalem in any way. And in the Name of Jesus, we pray that You reveal Your perfect will to all the leaders of Israel. We ask You, Lord, to reveal Yourself to each person. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers that are in accordance to Your will. We receive the answers. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Healing for Our Land

Dear God, You said in Your Word that if Your people would humble themselves, pray, seek your face, and turn from their wicked ways, You would hear us and heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

So now Lord, we humble ourselves. We realize we are not self-sufficient and our dependency is on you. We seek Your face and pursue You above all else.

We repent for the sins of this nation.  Forgive us where we have strayed dangerously far from the path you have for our country. We ask You to cleanse us and forgive us from idolatry, witchcraft and every kind of disobedience. Grant this nation a spirit of repentance and cover us with Your mercy. As we turn back to You, Lord, we believe our land is being healed.  In Jesus name. Amen.

National Revival

Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for the great sleeping giant, the church, who even now has begun to shake herself from her sleep. We pray she would awake to righteousness and holiness in every denomination, in every body of believers, and slumber no longer.

We pray we would begin to unify under the blood-stained banner of the Cross, and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom clearly and boldly in every highway and byway of our nation. We pray and believe for the voice of truth, salvation, revival and restoration to be proclaimed and heard across our land.

Grant unto your servants everywhere that with all boldness we may speak your Word. We pray for a mighty outpouring of your Spirit with signs, wonders and miracles.

We pray we will not only stand up and speak up but will begin to reap a great harvest in our nation, bringing multitudes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

May the revival of the saints be so all encompassing that it affects the spiritual complexion of our entire nation and influences our politics, our economy, our media, and our entire society. In Jesus name. Amen.

Racial Harmony

Dear Father,

In the name of Jesus, we break the curse of prejudice and oppression that has come down through the generations. We pray in Jesus’ name that there would be such a move of Your Spirit in our nation, that our oneness in Christ Jesus would positively influence relations between races.

We desire this first begin in the body of Christ and spread throughout every community in our country. May it affect every ethnic group in our nation and cross every racial barrier.

We pray when we look at those from another culture, we won’t see them as people of another color, but we will see them as one blood, as people created in Your image. In Jesus name! Amen.

Father, in Jesus name, we pray for the schools of our nation. We pray they once again, become institutions of not only education, but of morality, integrity, and stability for our children.

We pray the teachers become the spiritual and moral leaders You desire them to be – Godly examples of integrity and truth. We thank You for the sacrifices made by the educators employed in the schools.

Encourage them and strengthen them spiritually, mentally, and physically. Thank You for the investment they make daily in the future of our country. Help them see the potential in children, and do their best to develop it without discouragement.

May policies be implemented that allow our children to pray and seek God. Help Christians students stand as examples and reach out to other students. Help them resist temptations and become bold witnesses of Your love, mercy, and truth.

We pray for Your protection against violence and those who would try to violate the lives of others. Give authorities wisdom in how to properly protect our children from those who would want to cause them harm. We pray that every destructive plot would be revealed and crumble as it is brought to light.

Lord, may a wholeness and pureness return to our schools. We pray for students to develop a respect and appreciation for those in authority and those who have invested their life in proper training, teaching, and education of our children.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Grace Church Pastoral Team

Lord, we know the truth of Your Word is one of the most powerful things we can ever pray, so we pray for our pastors according to Ephesians 1:16-19, Ephesians 3:14-19, Ephesians 6:19, and Colossians 1:9-12

Give our pastors spiritual wisdom and insight so that they might grow in their knowledge of God.  We pray that their hearts will be flooded with light so that they can understand the confident hope You have called them to. May they grasp the inheritance you have given them in the saints and realize the exceeding greatness of Your power. (Ephesians 1:16-19)

We declare that whenever our pastors speak, Your words will fill their mouths so that they will fearlessly and boldly make known the mystery of the Gospel. (Ephesians 6:19)

We will not cease to pray our pastors and ask you, Lord, to fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that they may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.  May they be strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified them to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12)

We pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources, You will empower our pastors  with inner strength through Your Spirit. May Christ make his home in their hearts as they trust in Him. May their roots grow down into God’s love and keep them strong. And may they have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep the love of Jesus is. May they experience the love of Christ and be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to you, God, because You are able through Your mighty power at work within our pastors, to accomplish infinitely more than they could ever ask or think. (Ephesians 3:14-19)

In Jesus name.  Amen.

Grace Church Staff

Loving heavenly Father, we thank You for all the Grace Church staff in our church family and for providing us with such a dedicated team of men and women, who work so hard in Your service. Lord we pray for each one – that they would keep You as the focus of their life and that they may be surrendered to You in thought word and deed.

Give each one godly wisdom day by day as they tackle their designated ministry work and keep them from adopting the actions and attitudes of the world, in order to accomplish Your work in this place.

Help them not react to the urgent at the expense of acting on the important. Keep them from becoming weary of well-doing or discouraged in their various duties and may each one be kept from trying to accomplish tasks in their own strength and wisdom, but rather we pray that each one may learn to rest in Your love and to be open to Your voice.

Lord, give each member of our pastoral staff a servant’s heart and a caring spirit for the whole body of Christ – and may each one continue to grow in grace and show forth in their lives and homes a genuine love for those to whom they minister and a deep love for the Lord.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Grace Church Ministry Departments/Connect Groups

Lord, we pray for every ministry and connect group in our church, whether for infants all the way up to our senior citizens.  May each ministry and connect group create an atmosphere that encourages people to find You.  May every event, teaching, and ministry experience bring all eyes upon You. May every participant choose life and blessing daily because of the love and truth they have received through Grace Church.  In Jesus name. Amen.

God, thank you for all the volunteers who selflessly give of their time to contribute to your mission at Grace Church. Remind each of them that their contribution to our church is not only important but indispensable. Father, may you abundantly bless them for their smiles, acts of kindness, time sacrifices, and service to others. Continue to reveal to us how we can use our gifts to serve your people and the world. In Jesus name. Amen.

Our Community

God, help us open our doors even wider for those who do not yet know you. Whether from Tomball, Liberty, Garden Oaks, or the Humble campuses, give us eyes to see the needs of our community and make our hearts and hands ready to meet them. Help us to prepare for the ONES you are bringing us so that they may meet Jesus and discover a place to belong. We call out to the north, south, east, and west and ask for a great harvest of souls until everyone hears the gospel of Jesus Christ! In Jesus name. Amen.

Father we pray for the protection or our pastoral team, staff, and families of Grace Church according to your Word in Psalm 91:1-16

Because we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, we shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  We will say of the Lord, “You are our refuge and our fortress;
Our God, in You will we trust.”

Surely You shall deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. You shall cover us with Your feathers, and under Your wings shall we take refuge.  Your truth shall be our shield and buckler. We shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand; but it shall not come near us. Only with our eyes shall we look and see the reward of the wicked.

Because we have made the Lord, who is our refuge, even the Most High, our dwelling place, no evil shall befall us, nor shall any plague come near our dwelling.
For You shall give Your angels charge over us, to keep us in all Your ways. In their hands they shall bear us up, lest we dash our foot against a stone. We shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent shall we trample underfoot.

Because we have set our love upon You, therefore You will deliver us; You will set us on high, because we have known Your name. We shall call upon You, and you will answer us. You will be with us in trouble; You will deliver us and honor us. With long life you will satisfy us, and show us Your salvation.

We declare that any evil plots or schemes to harm this church or the families of this church shall not be successful. (Isaiah 54:17).  Thank you, Lord, for being our shield and protector.  In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, we pray for the finances of Grace Church. May we sow generously into our church without reluctance or compulsion. Make all grace abound so we have all we need for every good work You’ve assigned us. Make us rich in ways that result in generosity on our part so You will be praised. We thank You, God, for throwing open the floodgates of heaven and pouring out a blessing on all who bring the whole tithe into Your house. We pray we will never lack in any good thing. We call every building and renovation project needed PAID IN FULL!  We declare supernatural debt cancellation for Grace Church and every Grace Church family! In Jesus name. Amen.

Father, we pray for the marriages of Grace Church.  May they esteem marriage as precious, worthy of great price and especially dear. May they put away strife by becoming swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.  May they be examples of your love to family and friends.

We pray these couples will make a quality decision to live in harmony and not give themselves over to selfish desires that will cause division and distrust. We declare that the marriages of Grace Church grow stronger every day and they are an encouragement to everyone around. May these couples conduct themselves honorably and becomingly—being kind, tenderhearted, compassionate, understanding and loving toward one another. May they always be ready to believe the best and freely forgive one another. In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, we pray for the parents of Grace Church. Help them to partner with You and partake of Your gifts of wisdom, discernment, revelation, and guidance.  Give them Your strength and patience, along with a generous portion of Your love flowing through them. May the beauty of your Spirit be so evident in them that they will be a godly role model. Give them the communication, teaching, and nurturing skills that they must have. Make them the parent You want them to be and teach them how to pray and intercede for the lives of their children. May they not walk in their own ability, but through your strength and power.  In Jesus name. Amen

Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for every person at Grace Church who may be battling any type of sickness and disease. You said in Jeremiah 1:2, that you watch over Your Word to perform it.

We confess Your Word concerning health and healing. As we do, we believe that Your Word will not return to You void, but it will accomplish what it says.

We believe in your healing Word that says Jesus Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses (Matthew 8:17). Therefore, with great boldness and confidence, we stand on the authority of Your Word and declare healing for every member of Grace Church.

We confess that the Word abides in us and it is life and medicine to our flesh. We hold fast to our confession of Your Word and stand immovable, knowing that health and healing belong to us.  In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Grace Church Missions

Lord, we pray for our missions program at Grace Church.  Lord we know every one of us can PRAY, most can GIVE towards the efforts of this vital ministry, and some can GO.

We pray for our missions partners in Russia, Haiti, India, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, Ghana, Mexico, Tanzania, and Cambodia.  May you open doors for the message of Christ, not only access to their nations and people groups, but also for individuals’ hearts to be open and receptive to God’s truth.

We also pray that our missions partners will speak with boldness and fearlessly proclaim the mystery of the Gospel of Christ.  When faced with opposition, infuse them with your strength to stand firm. We come against any evil forces in Jesus Name, that would try to hinder the spread of the Gospel in these countries.  God, we ask you to multiply the efforts of our missions partners and may God’s Word spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes.

Lord you said that those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. We pray for times of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual refreshment for them that can only be found in Jesus.

God, your Word says that you would supply all of our needs according to your riches in Glory through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).  We declare every need met and every bill paid for our missions partners.  May they never come up short for any endeavor needed to effectively proclaim Your Good News. In Jesus Name. Amen.
